What To Do In Scotland

If you are thinking of exploring Scotland, you do not have to wait for the summer months when the weather is less hostile. So long as you are well-equipped for the icy weather there will be plenty of days with crisp blue skies for you to explore the country's cities and incredibly stunning landscape.

For one it is the home of Gulf and boasts many of the best courses in the world. Some of the most challenging and most beautiful courses can be found in Scotland. In fact golf has been nurtured in St Andrews for more than six hundred years.

If your ancestry is Scottish then that could be another good reason to visit the country. A trip to Scotland might just be the time to try to trace your roots. Take an ancestral tour to explore your clan. Who knows, you might even be a descendent of one of the many famous Scottish clans.

Although there are organised tours which will take you to the lands of the major clans of Scotland, you may want to do it on your own and mostly on foot, exploring the wonderful Scottish landscape. For the more adventurous you may even want to climb a mountain or two and go wildlife watching. It will be a case of killing many birds with one stone. Such an approach to your vacation will improve your fitness, allow you to intimately explore rural Scotland and immerse yourself in the local culture.

Most likely however, your vacation or your first stop in Scotland will be centred on Glasgow or Edinburgh, especially if your choice of travel is by air. If you want to explore Edinburgh then choose a hotel in Edinburgh centre for your convenience. Alternatively if your first destination point is Glasgow, then a central Glasgow hotel would again be your best option - especially if you want to explore the city mostly on foot, or with local transport.
